It's almost time....

We had our final steering team meeting and we are so ready to kickoff another amazing year of MOPS! We have some great speakers, crafts and games planned. We have some great table leaders waiting for all of you moms to join their table! I'm so thankful for this group of ladies who serve YOU, the moms of this community and ministry! We are ready to welcome back our moms that have been apart of this group and we are more ready than ever to meet new ladies! If you are looking for somewhere to get to know other moms and to find a place of love and encouragement...we are ready!

I just have this sense of excitement and expectation that God is going to do great things in this ministry this year! I have a new fire and am ready to see what it's all about!

At one of our meetings, Lindsey brought this song to our attention. It is such an encouragement to me and at the same time such a challenge. As I sit and type this and look around my house, I need to go do LOTS of things "to the glory of the Lord" if you know what I mean...dishes, laundry, cleaning, organizing, etc. However, it's all for not if I do it without a joy that only He can give me! So listen to this song and I hope it will encourage and challenge you like it has me!

Starting Back

I have once again failed to put any updates on here...my apologies! Your steering team has been meeting and we have some great things planned for our upcoming year! I'm really excited about our new leadership and fresh ideas!

We will be starting back on WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 14! Drop your kiddos off in the nursery and head upstairs. Ashley Bayouth has been working extremely hard on getting our Moppets program coordinated. We have plenty of workers who are ready to love on your children! The 3 older classes will all have a lesson each time. How exciting! I'm so thankful for all the work that Ashley has put into this ministry. We are finally at that point that we could focus on this part of our ministry. For several years we were just trying to keep our head above water and have workers. Thankfully God has blessed us and we can now do more with our Moppetts!

Our fees are going down!! How exciting is that? Last year our fees were $37.50/semester. This year it is only $25/semester! Woo Hoo! We will have some kind of t-shirt that is optional to buy and we should have a price and let you know what it will look like at our first meeting. Last year they were $14, so I would assume no more than that.

I hope you will come check us out. We are a great group of girls. I believe that is using this ministry to help moms get to know others and to let us be used by Him in our homes, churches and communities! I just can't say enough about how much I love this group! Cooking in the Kitchen

Today we had our cooking day! It was fun! We made chili cheese enchiladas! Yummy! It is so fun to get to come make something and take it home and have a dinner ready to cook!

At the end, we had a question and answer time with Mrs. Monica. It was so good. Lots of fun. Just some basic tips/things that will help us in the kitchen!

Great times. Great friends!

Monkey House Playdate

We had a great start to our year! However, I'm so sad. I meant to post pictures of our first meeting, but forgot my camera. So, here are some from our 2nd meeting!

Of course we all enjoy brunch and eating without being interrupted by our precious children.

Jessica had a great game for us! She does a wonderful job of getting us involved with our tables and getting to know each other better!

This is our new room that we started meeting in this year! So far it has worked wonderfully and I'm so thankful to have such a great place to meet!

Here is Ashley with her new baby!

Katrina Steen was our speaker and shared her amazing testimony. She has such a heart for God and such a sweet, encouraging spirit. We learned from her Godly example. I'm so glad she spoke. At our next meeting we will be having some great fellowship and be making a trivet and some coasters! Come join us!

The amazing billboard?! Did you see it? If you live in Greenwood, I hope you did! It is big and looks awesome, thanks to Sarah Kemp! She has been so sweet and so amazing to work with! I love our billboard!

Also, if you go to FBC Greenwood (or maybe even other churches in our area) you should have gotten a card in your diaper bag on Sunday! I hope you did! We'd love for you to come check us out! All you have to do is show up at our first meeting!

Spread the word! It is getting close to "kickoff"--sorry, I love football and it is in the air! We will start Sept. 8th! 9:00! Be there!

We are going to be having a steering team meeting next week. We will be planning our speaker and craft/activities. If you have any ideas that you want to suggest, please leave a comment or e-mail me and let me know!

Please be in prayer for us finding some volunteers for Mopetts! We are in great need for sweet people to love on our kiddos! I know God will provide, He always does, so please pray specifically for God to provide 6 workers!

We have been doing a little bit of planning this summer! I can't wait for this coming year. I know God is going to be right there with us, blessing our ministry and our fellowship together!

If you haven't heard, we will be changing our location! Not from FBC Greenwood, but just a different building. We will be meeting in Building B, which is closer to the nursery and won't be so far of a walk over to the Edge Building. Yeah! We can still get our exercise in because we will be meeting upstairs!

All of our supplies are moved up there, we have the tables set up and we are READY!

Has it seriously been that long since I updated this? I knew it had been a while, but WOW! I'm promising to be better!

Today we had a playdate at The Outback! The kids and mommies all seemed to have fun!

We will be planning the upcoming year very soon so stay tuned for dates, speakers, crafts and more info!

I can't wait to start yet another year! I love this group of moms and all the encouragement they give me!

Fall Wreaths

I should have taken a picture, but I didn't! I have to get better about taking my camera to our meetings. We had a blast though making fall wreaths! I really like mine (even if it isn't professional), it is hanging on my front door!!

We are off to a fun start for sure to our new MOPS year! I look forward to so much more! God is using this ministry and we'd love for you to be part of it. We have had 13 new moms come and visit and many came back! I hope that means we are loving like Jesus would!

Our next meeting will be Oct. 14th! We will be learning about self defense. It should be very informative as well as entertaining I'm sure! We'd love to see you there!

What a blessing!

I was blessed today at MOPS! I loved meeting new moms that visited our group! My prayer is that everyone felt welcome and that they felt included. We want our group to be like a family and my prayer is that is how you feel if you visit our group!

I was blessed by the encouragement and reminder that Mrs. Harriett gave us on making memories with our children! I want to make the right memories with my children and I need to be consious of that everyday! Thank you Mrs. Harriett!

The leaders in our group (Steering Team) did an amazing job of pulling all the details together! What a blessing you girls are to me! I appreciate you!

I hope if you are thinking about coming to MOPS that you will come and visit--Sept. 23, 9:00 at the EDGE Building!

Psalm 144:1-2

"Praise be to the Lord my Rock, who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle. He is my loving God and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer, my shield, in whom I take refuge, who subdues peoples under me."

To say this spoke to me this morning would be an understatement! Bit by bit here is my thoughts as I read:

Praise be to the Lord my Rock: I need something strong to hold onto right now in my life
Who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle: I feel like I've been at "war" with my girls, or that they have been at "war" with eachother therefore I have to be in the middle of it.
...in whom I take refuge: I need to "hide in the cleft of the rock" this morning for sure and just sit there
who subdues peoples under me: As I read this, I'm sure David wasn't referring to my children who are "under me" (my authority) but I had to read it this way this morning. I needed them to be subdued! They actually have not been, but I have gone back to this verse a few times this morning, thinking that the Lord is my Rock!

I'm so excited about MOPS starting! It is so neat to be part of a group where we "get" eachother and all that is going on in eachother's lives!

We have ordered t-shirts! They are going to be super cute! They will be $10 (I think!), so bring your money to get one at our first meeting!

PRAISE THE LORD we have Mopett workers! We don't have "extras" if someone can't come to work, but we are not struggling to find people this year! What a blessing! I'm so thankful God has once again provided these precious volunteers for us!

I look forward to seeing all of you again! Bring a friend! We love to have new people join us!

I don't know who reads this?!? Anyone??!!?

We have been meeting as a Steering Team and getting some great and exciting things planned for our upcoming year! I'm so excited about the things that are working out and that God has put on our hearts to share!

Katie has been hard at work getting things ready for registration. You should be getting a letter in the mail if you were a member of our group last year. I hope you find some helpful information on there!

Look for us (MOPS, not me!) on the billboard on Hwy. 10 as you come into Greenwood! We will be there in September! Yeah!! I'm hoping this will help us reach out to Greenwood and more moms will join us!

Our fees this year are staying the same, $5/meeting. That is just to join our group. That is not your MOPS Int'l fees. Those fees are $23.95 for the year. This includes: momsense magazine, mom e-mail from MOPS Int'l., the theme book for this year. We are going to prorate our fees because there are more meetings in the spring. Therefore, our fees will be $40/each semeseter. If you need to split that into 2 payments, that is an option. Also, if you need or know someone that would come on a scholarship, that is also available. Simply send me an e-mail or let me know! We never want a mom to not come because of money.

I hope you are excited about coming to MOPS. We will be having some speakers come back that were highly ranked on our surveys as well as some fun new ones! We have some fun crafts and games as well!

We had such a fun meeting today! I loved it. We heard great encouragement from Mrs. Harriett. She is sharing with us how to be a Proverbs 31 woman in every area of our lives!! What great wisdom and encouraement she brings to us!!

We had fun making our craft (pictures coming soon)!! Julie has done great at coming up with some good ideas and some new ideas that we haven't done before!

Our next meeting will be on Wednesday, January 28th!! We will get great tips on coupon shopping from our own coupon savvy moms, Erin and Tamara!! I'm so excited!

Christmas Wreath Meeting

We had a few new moms today at our meeting! What a blessing! We love to be able to minister and fellowship with other moms. This ministry is a blessing to me to be able to serve other moms as well as be served by them with the stories and fellowship that we bring! I look forward to getting to know everyone better!

Our next meeting will be on Dec. 10th! We will be making Christmas wreaths! Yeah! Cynthia McCutcheon is going to be teaching us the ins and outs of bow making and wreath decorating! Who couldn't use another Christmas wreath either for yourself or as a gift! We are asking each mom to bring their own spool of ribbon to decorate your wreath. We will provide everything else!

I can't believe our semester is already coming to an end! It has been a fun time so far. I feel like we've only just begun. Next semester there are more meetings, so we have it packed full of great speakers, fun games, great crafts and LOTS of fellowship!

Great Start!

Our year is off to a fantastic start if you ask me! I'm so excited about how God is blessing our group! We had 19 ladies at our first meeting and 23 at our second! I know there are more that God is going to bring to this ministry as well! So much fun to be part of where God is working!

Our first meeting was just to get to know your table leader and other ladies at our tables.

Our second meeting we featured Julie Jones, one of our own MOPS moms! She gave us excellent tips and ideas for cleaning our house in a way that it is not so overwhelming! She helped us organize a binder for keeping track of all of our "house" things we as moms and/or wives have to do!

One of the best examples I've ever heard about being a mom/wife was one that Julie shared with us: "Sometimes I feel like glue. As the woman of the house I am what seems to hold us together. There are times I don't want to be glue!" (I'm sure I did NOT quote her exactly, but that is the gist of it.) I thought that was so great and said exactly what we feel like as moms and wives sometimes! Being the glue can be tiresome, but don't give up!

Fee Changes!

We are changing the fees for this year...again! Our registration fees are $30/semester. This is for our craft/activity fees.

We are still offering the MOPS International Membership, but as an option and not a requirement. If you are interested in joining MOPS International, that membership fee is an additional $24. This membership includes a bi-monthly subscription to MomSense Magazine, MOPS weekly e-mail, and the 2008 theme book "The Mommy Diaries: Finding Yourself in the Daily Adventure."

I hope this is clear. We are looking forward to a great year and meeting some new friends!

Don't forget, our first meeting is September 10th from 9-11!

Fall Registration

September 10th is going to be our first meeting! We are going to just do registration then. There will be signs in the ROC to give you directions on where to go! We will be selling MOPS shirts for $8. They are hot pink with black letters! VERY cute...if you like hot pink! We will have several door prizes and a "welcome" gift for everyone that comes!

This year's membership fees are $42 for the fall semester. Then in January it will be $45 for the spring semester. This includes your MOPS Int'l membership, MomSense magazine subscription, 2008 MOPS theme book, craft/activity fees.

We have some great speakers for this year that will bring us wonderful advice, information, and lots of fun!

Please pray for a Moppet Coordinator as well as Moppet volunteers! We are still working hard on these things and praying for God to provide them for us!

Last night and this morning, we had a display table set up at FBC Greenwood for the Beth Moore simulcast. We got to meet several potential moms that are considering joining us! If you are one of those moms, we hope you will check us out! We look forward to meeting you!

Also, if you are on here just checking us out and are not a mother of a preschooler, you can still be apart of our ministry! We are looking for volunteer care givers for our Moppets (children) of the MOPS moms! You do not have to teach a lesson or prepare anything. We just need ladies who are willing and ready to serve Jesus by loving on our kiddos for a couple of hours twice a month!

We had a blast on our play date! So much fun that we are going to do it again! Monday, August 4th at 11:00. Flame Gymnastics in Fort Smith. The play place is for anyone under 12. So, bring your big kids too! There are tables to eat lunch and lots of things for the kids to run around on! If you need directions or have questions, just e-mail me or call me!

Get ready! This year in MOPS is going to be great! We have t-shirts ordered and will be ready to sell. More details on that soon! We will start meeting again in September! I can not wait!

Continue to pray for a Moppetts Coordinator. If you think God is calling you to that, please let me know! I know He has someone picked out....we are praying for you! I will help you with workers and everything!

A Good Looking Army!

For those of you moms who have younger children and didn't see the "show" today, I thought I'd post a few pictures. Here they are getting ready. Their teachers, Susie Butler and Nancy Dobson, did all of the work for this and deserve all the applause for teaching our children about the aromor of God! This was precious to watch and listen to them sing and talk about what each part of the armor did...or at least her Mrs. Nancy say what each part was! :)

I just could not resist putting this soldier on here. He looks ready to fight in the name of the Lord for sure! He just looked so adorable, every one did, but as I was going through all the pictures, this one stood out!
